One thing Americans don't suffer and I don't think they even have idea about is the Border Patrol's behavior when dealing with immigrants, legal and illegal ones.
I won't talk in general, but what I suffered.
Last time, when crossing the border to make business with salvia extract, I went to the USCIS office to ask for a form I-94, an Asian agent attended me, and I think he didn't know enough Spanish. He asked for a proof of address, but I didn't understand him, I finally understood, and I gave it to him, the issue was that every time he asked for the same thing, he got meaner and louder, after showing my proof of address, he was asking for my destination, exactly the same result, I didn't understand at first, he turned more and more mean, he almost didn't give me my permission because no good reason, I just couldn't understand his bad Spanish.
After that, we were traveling to LA, we were stopped for a Border Patrol's revision before leaving San Diego, and the agent, with a despotic behavior, he started asking everybody for our ID's. A passenger had his ID proving the he was born in the US, but the agent was wondering why he didn't speak English (of course in English), loudly and several times, after a lot of arguing he finally let him go with us. Finally this officer stomp over the Van's side proving his discontent because he didn't catch or scared anyone.
I'd like to know your opinion about this, and my opinion is that this is not a good way of treating tourists, specifically those who really care about American laws and obey them by getting our Visa and other documents to enter to this great country. On this sense, I don't want to think how illegal aliens are treated, but I'll talk about that later.
Wish you a good day.
